Behind The Curtain

The weight of the world falls back on my shoulders
As you slowly slip through my fingers
The darkness deep inside
Now begins to rise, again
To the shattering of my newly mended heart

The pressure of my past creeps upon me
Growing until the awaited crescendo
The screaming subsides
Laughter begins to rise, again
To complete the transformation of my soul

In time I’ll heal
In time I’ll feel once again
In time I’ll let go
In time I’ll move on again

Why does this have to hurt so much?
If only right now I could feel your touch
I would fall right to sleep
You join me in my dream
All that was could be forgotten and forgiven

How could I lose you again?
I thought this time would be different
The pain is too much to bear
I can’t walk up these stairs
I don’t want to say good-bye again, and I won’t

In time I’ll heal
In time I’ll feel once again
In time I’ll let go
In time I’ll move on again
In time I’ll be fine
In time I’ll be okay again
But not tonight
